Moussa Cisse Announces Decision To Enter Transfer Portal

STILLWATER – A third Oklahoma State player has entered his name into the transfer portal. Moussa Cisse took to Twitter Sunday evening announced he has entered into the portal.

Cisse joins fellow center Kalib Boone and guard Avery Anderson III, who announced their intentions to transfer this past week. Boynton and Co. are still awaiting an official decision from fellow big-man Tyreek Smith, who still has two years of eligibility remaining.

The seven-footer has been a defensive stalwart during his two seasons in Stillwater. This past season, Cisse averaged 6.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game.

Before getting injured against West Virginia in the second Big 12 game of the season, Cisse was averaging close to a double-double, with 8.2 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. He’d finish this past season with six double-doubles.

A former five-star prospect who transferred from Memphis, Cisse was tabbed the 2022 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year following a solid first year in Stillwater. He started in 26 of 30 games, playing in 29. He posted 7.2 points in 20 minutes per game, while averaging 6.5 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game.

He’d finish the 2022-23 season with five double-doubles.

This makes things incredibly interesting for Boynton and Co., who are bringing in 2023 top-30 prospect, Brandon Garrison, a F/C out of Del City, and now how at least two scholarships to fill based on portal departures.

Well, that was one we did not need to go. A total rebuild and the freshman coming in will be the team. Tough to win with lack of experience. GO POKES!!!

Ouch. Total rebuild on the way. Definitely can be done quickly with the portal but not sure Boynton is the right guy to lead that turnaround. I'm guessing one more year and he will be out.

Would seem some of the players we need are in the portal, and some we don't need are not in the portal. Nothing good about it.

That one hurts the team a lot. Anderson and Boone not shocking but hoping/ somewhat optimistic Cisse would have stayed. We need to keep Smith and Thompson for sure. We'll see.

Well our AD has some big decisions to be made in basketball. Maybe Holder will pay off the rest of Boyton's contract so we can move on. He did the coaches contract just before our AD took over. This mess is his fault. Another Ford mess.

There is no such thing anymore as building a college athletics program. All there is now is how good can you slap together a serviceable team in a few months before the next season starts, using players who bailed out of their previous school just like yours bailed out of your school. College athletics is getting really depressing, really fast.

There was NOBODY on our roster that was a consistent enough difference maker to be a can't lose player. Nobody that was near the top of the league in talent.
Now whether Boynton can identify and sign players good enough to be among the best in the Big Twelve is debatable. In fact, it seems highly unlikely because his track record of building rosters is poor but these departures provide the opportunity to upgrade the roster so the ball is in Boynton's court to get it done.

He'll need to do so to take close losses and have the talent to turn them into wins.
