STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is looking to add some defensive line depth in the upcoming 2024 class Greg Richmond and new defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo are looking at Bay City (TX) HS DT, Carlon Jones. It happened last week, but Jones reported a Cowboys’ offer.

Bay City, TX, is roughly an hour and 20 minutes southwest of Houston.

OSU marks his 11th offer during this recruiting cycle, which includes Cal, Houston, Minnesota, Northwestern, Oregon State and UTSA among others.

Checking in at 6-2, almost 6-3, 270-pounds, Jones is coming off a monster junior season for Bay City in which he amassed an impressive 102 total tackles, 29 tackles for loss and 13 sacks. Those numbers earned him District 12-4A D-I Co-Defensive MVP honors following the season.

Those numbers are coming off just as impressive numbers as a sophomore, in which he recorded 63 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and two sacks.

Jones checks in as a high three-star prospect and the No. 74 overall defensive lineman and No. 113 overall prospect out of Texas in the 2024 class, according to the On3 industry rankings.

The Cowboys currently hold four commitments in the 2024 recruiting class, two coming on each side of the ball: Longview (TX) HS safety Willie Nelson, Choctaw (OK) HS Edge Will Smith, Stillwater (OK) HS TE Josh Ford and Southeast (OKC) HS RB Rodney Fields.
