Oklahoma State Softball Comes From Behind To Beat Iowa State, 5-2

STILLWATER– Kelly Maxwell led the way with a dazzling 11-strikeout performance to propel the No. 3/3 Oklahoma State softball team to a 5-2 victory over Iowa State Friday evening at Cowgirl Stadium. 

Win the win, OSU improved to 38-3 and 7-0 in Big 12 play, while Iowa State fell to 13-24 and 1-9 against conference opposition.

The Cyclones jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after piecing together a couple base hits in the top of the first inning.

As the Oklahoma State starter, Maxwell settled in and held Iowa State scoreless until the top of the seventh. The Cowgirls' ace improved to 13-0 and allowed only five hits and one walk.

Struggling to get balls past the Iowa State defense, three-consecutive scoring innings in the latter half of the game turned the tide for the Pokes.

Chyenne Factor hit her second home run of the season with a leadoff solo shot in the fourth inning to tie the game at one apiece.

Following a base on balls from Micaela Wark, Katelynn Carwile hit her second double of the game to bring Wark home and give the Cowgirls the lead, 2-1.

The next inning, OSU extended its advantage with a two-run shot from Rachel Becker, her third dinger of the year.

The Pokes rounded out their scoring output in the sixth with three consecutive base hits that scored Carwile for OSU's fifth and final run of the night.

The Cyclones added a second run in the top of the seventh, but Maxwell and the Cowgirl defense ended things swiftly to secure the victory.
