Former Oklahoma State Defensive End Ben Kopenski to Enter Transfer Portal
STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State defensive end Ben Kopenski has decided to enter the transfer portal. Pokes Report has also learned Kopenski will land about an hour east of Stillwater playing for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
While his stats were limited, Kopenski played a pivotal role for the Cowboys during his four years in Stillwater. A walk-on for most of his career, Kopenski finished his OSU career with 17 total tackles, 11 of which were solo stops, in 27 games. He also finished with six tackles for loss (29 yards) and 4.5 sacks (28 yards)
Nearly all of his numbers came during the 2022 season as he recorded 14 total tackles, eight of which were solo stops, four tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and one pass break up.
With the departure of both Brock Martin and Tyler Lacy, Kopenski was set to slot into a bigger role in 2023. However, Kopenski was still mulling over the idea of whether to come back or move on throughout the end of the 2022 season.
A couple of months after Senior Day, Kopenski made the decision he was going to play his final season somewhere else. He didn’t see a clear role for him in the new odd front defense as the coaching staff was going to move him to linebacker with Collin Oliver.
