STILLWATER – It’s been a couple of weeks since Avery Anderson III entered the transfer portal, but the former Oklahoma State point guard has found a home and it’s in conference: TCU.

He joins fellow former OSU guard, Rondel Walker, who transferred to TCU ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Kalib Boone has rejoined his brother, Keylan, as both have signed with UNLV, while Moussa Cisse, Woody Newton and Tyreek Smith have yet to make a decision on their next schools.

Losing Avery to the portal was a tough pill to swallow to begin with, let alone him transferring in-conference.

Anderson III played in 109 games during his four years in Stillwater, including the 22 he played this past season as a senior before a season-ending injury ahead of, ironically enough, the game against TCU in Stillwater. The Cowboys won that one 79-73. Avery would finish the season averaging 11.1 points per game on 40% shooting from the floor. He also had 3.5 rebounds per game and 75 assists to 66 turnovers, with 32 steals and eight blocks.

During his career at Oklahoma State, Anderson averaged 9.7 points per game on 41.5% shooting from the field. He also recorded 152 career steals and averaged 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

As of Saturday, April 22, Mike Boynton and Co. return three guards from last year’s team: Bryce Thompson, John-Michael Wright and Quion Williams.

They’re also currently hosting East Carolina point guard, Javon Small, who averaged 15.8 points per game on 40% shooting from the field this past season as a sophomore. He was also second on the team in assists with 100 on the year, while committing just 34 fouls in just 18 games.
