STILLWATER – Oklahoma State basketball just landed its second transfer of the spring, this time a big man. Mike Boynton and Co. have added Mike Marsh, a forward/center out of Jacksonville University.

Marsh actually broke the news on his Instagram on Tuesday afternoon, but the news is just now making its way to Stillwater. Here’s the post from his high school coach on Twitter.

“We are excited to welcome Mike Marsh to Cowboy Basketball,” OSU head coach Mike Boynton said. “Mike brings a physical interior presence that can immediately impact next year’s team.”

Marsh checks in at 6-11, 240 pounds and just finished his redshirt junior season with the Dolphins where he averaged 10.5 points on 55% shooting from the field and 4.9 rebounds per game in 22 games. He also shot 70% from the free throw line. He started in 14 of those 22 games but missed a chunk of time in the middle of the season due to a shoulder injury on Dec. 10.

He scored double figures in 14 of his 22 games, including opening the season with 15 points against Duke. He also recorded 17 points and nine rebounds against VCU.

In his first season at JU, Marsh averaged nearly nine points on 52% shooting from the field and 5.4 rebounds per game.

Originally out of Columbia, S.C., Marsh’s journey taken him across the country and back again a few times. He started his career at USC Salkehatchie before transferring to Dodge City C.C. where he averaged nearly 12 points on nearly 70% shooting from the floor and seven rebounds in 21 games as a sophomore.

Marsh fills a huge hole in the roster following the departure of Kalib Boone, Moussa Cisse and Tyreek Smith, effectively making him the tallest player on the projected roster, just ahead of 6-9 Brandon Garrison. He’s also now one of the oldest players on the roster, which certainly helps as there’s five incoming freshmen.

The Cowboys now have three spots left to fill ahead of the 2023-24 season. They return John-Michael Wright, Bryce Thompson and Quion Williams. They’ve added Javon Small via the transfer portal and are bringing in five incoming freshmen: Brandon Garrison, Eric Dailey Jr., Justin McBride, Connor Dow and Jamyron Keller.
