Oklahoma State Headed To Spain for Exhibition Summer Trip

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men’s basketball is headed back to Europe for some exhibition basketball.

According to CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander, Cowboy basketball is headed to Spain in August to play exhibition games. There are no other details right now, but would have to imagine the program will be putting something out soon.

This is the second time during Boynton’s tenure the Pokes have taken a European trip to play some exhibition hoops. They went to Italy and Greece ahead of the 2018-19 season, going 2-1 on the trip as they beat the Greek All-Stars and a team from the Netherlands, while falling to the Italian National B team.

This could shape up to be a very important trip for Mike Boynton and Co. as this year’s roster is going to be drastically different, with five incoming freshmen and potentially five transfers. For a sport that allows 13 scholarship players, 10 newcomers is a big deal.

This will not only give Boynton and Co. several practices with a new roster to help with cohesion, but this will also allow the team to bond much more on a personal level.

The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing 20-16 season this past year, one in which they were the first team out of the NCAA tournament. There’s certainly going to be some pressure on the team to perform this upcoming season as they’ve made the NCAA tournament just once since 2017.
