Oklahoma State Football Continues to Offer Plethora of Linebackers and More Recruiting
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has offered a number of linebackers lately and you will see more Oklahoma prospects, especially in the 2025 and 2026 classes, offered over the next week to 10 days. Marcus James is a sensational athlete that stands 6-4, 210-pounds and was a standout in two sports for Oklahoma City Bishop McGuinness. James has left the Fighting Irish and is currently going through spring football at his new home Carl Albert High School. Oklahoma State co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Joe Bob Clements saw James practicing for the Titans.
The Cowboys also offered Temple, Texas cornerback and wide receiver Jason Bradford. Oklahoma State is getting in on him early as he is a member of the class of 2026. Oklahoma State is the first Power Five offer for Bradford.
Bradford was earlier offered by Texas State. Bradford is big at 6-2, 185-pounds and more than likely is a corner prospect for the Cowboys. Oddly enough, he was offered on the night (May 18) of the Wildcats spring game. Last season as a freshman, Bradford split time between the junior varsity and varsity and this spring has made his presence felt in spring football. Bradford is a very good student as well with a 3.7 GPA.
The increased number of offers in Oklahoma will jump because with the spring sports ending in Oklahoma last weekend, spring football has begun this week and the Cowboys coaches were waiting to start hitting the schools in-state. Just on Thursday defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo hit Oklahoma Christian, several Edmond schools, and Piedmont. There were other Oklahoma State coaches combing Oklahoma and they will next week as well.
Meanwhile, running backs coach John Wozniak has been busy this week as he was in Las Vegas earlier to watch official visitor and standout Bishop Gorman running back Micah Ka’apana. This is evaluation period in May and not contact, but coaches all over make sure their targets see them and know they are there to see them.
Wozniak was in McKinney, Texas for their spring game as he wanted to watch Bryan Jackson. Jackson has been offered by Oklahoma State but has committed verbally to Southern Cal. Sometimes early commits get changed and the rule is you keep recruiting, besides he could see 2025 linebacker prospect Riley Pettijohn (6-2, 205), who has 22 scholarship offers including the Cowboys.
James was at McGuinness last season and was a standout target for Irish quarterback River Warren all season. He played linebacker as showed the ability to get through traffic and make a lot of plays. He packs a big punch at the point of attack in making tackles. His speed is deceptive because of his size but he runs a 4.5 in the forty and has 38-inch vertical.
Besides his prowess both ways on the football field, James also averaged 8.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in basketball. Expect to see James at one of the Cowboys upcoming mini camps on June 4.
