now if we can get some more talent to replace the starters we are losing.
I think we have five starters that are listed as graduate students, which I assume means they've used their eligibility (Tuck, Naomi, Factor, Becker, Wynne)
STILLWATER – Despite the season-ending loss to Tennessee on Sunday evening, Oklahoma State softball did receive some rather good news after the game as right-handed pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl announced she’ll be using her final year of eligibility and returning to Oklahoma State next season.
Kilfoyl, who was solid all season long for the Cowgirls, was dominant down the stretch and was a catalyst for their postseason success.
A second-team All-Big 12 selection, Kilfoyl was 22-9 on the season with 139.2 innings pitched. She finished with just 34 earned runs allowed for a 1.70 ERA. She also finished with 130 strikeouts to just 39 walks.
As I wrote above, Kilfoyl was a catalyst for the Cowgirls’ postseason success. She recorded all three wins in the Stillwater Regional against UMBC, Wichita State and Nebraska, as well as one of the wins in a complete game against Oregon in the Stillwater Super Regional.
Her five innings in the run-rule against Utah were nearly perfect as she gave up just three hits and recorded three strikeouts. The rest were fly balls and put outs.
Kilfoyl returning makes the Cowgirl pitching rotation even more dangerous than it was this season. Kelly Maxwell announced earlier in the season she’s returning for next season and the Pokes should return All-Big 12 Freshman pitcher, Kyra Aycock, who finished her first season with an 18-8 overall record and a 2.51 ERA. The Cowgirls should also return talented pitcher Tatum Clopton, who missed the 2023 season with an injury.
