Breaking Down Oklahoma State Guard Play in 2023-24

I know he's a "foward", but I could see Dailey playing a lot of mins at guard with 2 bigs on the court too. I think if he gets going early in the season, Boynton will let him take the ball up the court some when Small isn't in the game.

I don't think we have enough talent/experience to put any of our bigs at the #4 spot. (i.e., no two bigs on the floor at once).

The way Boynton dials things up, there is probably a good chance we see 4 guards and Daily at center. (small ball)

I don't think experience would make a big lineup a problem. Miranda is 7'1 but will probably find his scoring from the outside before inside, so he'll be on the perimeter a lot on offense. I don't see Dailey as a small ball center because he's not that big and our guards aren't that big either.

Coach Sutton said it all starts with the point, your quarterback! He always had strong point guards that could run the offense and play good defense!

I'm just thinking back when we did have 2 legitimate centers, and one that could also play the #4 spot (Boone, Cisse), and Boynton almost never had them on the floor at the same time.

He tried it, but it didn't really work, which is why I express doubt about using these guys in that manner.

We'll find out soon enough - the August Spain trip is only about 2 months away.

I just don't see Dailey as a 5 whatsoever. He's about 6' 7 and he's built, but he has the skill set of a guard. He's too good to make him play inside. I think this year we'll run big lineups a lot more because we have more skill in our front court. Miranda is 7'1 but he can play as a wing shooter. I think there's always going to be someone taller than Dailey on the court. My favorite projected lineup would have Dailey, Miranda, and Garrison. I think this team can have that type of lineup because Dailey, Miranda, and McBride are fowards that can stretch the floor and pass very well.

I don't see Daily as a 5 either.... I'm pretty sure I said we would more likely see him playing underneath in an all small lineup before we'd see any twin-towers lineup.

but.... it's Boynton, no telling what he could introduce into the lineup.
