Oklahoma State Lands Commitment From 2024 McKinney Linebacker Jonathan Agumadu

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State just landed its 13th commitment in the 2024 class with McKinney (TX) HS linebacker, Jonathan Agumadu.

Agumadu committed to the Pokes over offers from Liberty, Louisiana, Memphis, Missouri and SMU among others. OSU offered back on May 12, 2023.

Agumadu checks in at 6-2, 220 pounds and is actually on campus right now as his OSU official visit began Thursday morning. In fact, Pokes Report has learned he committed to head coach Mike Gundy in Gundy’s office early Thursday morning.

This will be his first season at McKinney as Agumadu played his junior season for Pearce HS in Richardson, TX. He was one of the leading tacklers in the nine games he played, recording 48 total stops, 23 of which solo stops, 4.5 sacks, 3.0 tackles for loss and 19 quarterback hurries. He also had three pass breakups, one forced fumble and two blocked field goals.

What’s crazy about those numbers is that the 2022 season was Agumadu’s first year playing defense. He had been a receiver before last season. He’s a big and physical athlete who played a little bit of everything for Pearce. He lined up on either side of the D-line, both in the dirt and standing up off the edge, while also playing at the hybrid linebacker spot.

As you can see from his Hudl highlight below, Agumadu is difficult for linemen to maintain off the snap. But the plays where he’s shown resistance, he keeps fighting and finds a way through to pursue the ball.

His senior season this fall should be a fun one to watch as he’s more acclimated to playing on the defensive side of the ball. He’ll also have had a full offseason and summer to work out like a defensive end/hybrid linebacker, so he should be even bigger and more physical in the fall.

As mentioned above, Agumadu marks the 13th overall commitment for the Pokes in the 2024 class and the eighth on the defensive side of the ball.
