Dailey, Boynton, and Team USA Finish Group Play Unbeaten with 122-70 Win
Debrecen, Hungary – Oklahoma State freshman Eric Dailey Jr. scored in double-figures for the third straight game to help the United States stay unbeaten at the FIBA U19 World Cup with a 122-70 victory over Lebanon.
Dailey -- a 6-foot-8 forward from Bradenton, Fla. -- put up 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting in 19 minutes of work and also excelled defensively with five rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Dailey’s college head coach Mike Boynton of Oklahoma State is an assistant for head coach Tad Boyle on the Under 19 Team USA. Boynton is a veteran of USA Basketball and this is the second time he and Dailey have been together for Team USA.
The game was tied at 19 near the 4:00-mark of the first half before the Americans seized control with a 17-0 run. They outscored Lebanon by 20 points (35-15) in the second quarter to take a commanding 74-35 halftime lead.
Team USA shot 54% for the day, knocked down 13-of-28 threes and outscored Lebanon 27-14 at the foul line while winning the battle of the boards by a healthy 54-32 margin.
The United States (3-0) finishes atop Group B and will face China (0-3) in Wednesday's Round of 16 (time TBA).
