Cowboy Baseball Picks Up Former CWS All-Tournament Shortstop in Forsythe
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is getting a transfer shortstop from Mississippi State with a national championship on his resume’. Lane Forsythe helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2021 CWS National Championship as a freshman and he earned CWS All-Tournament team honors in doing so. In that season Forsythe started 58 games as shortstop. He appeared at the plate 186 times, earning a batting average of (.231) for the season with an on-base percentage of (.321). The Hunboldt, Tenn. native collected 30 runs on 43 hits while gaining 21 RBIs. Overall in his career at Mississippi State, Forsythe was known for his stellar arm over at short, but he struggled at the plate for most of his career. This past season Forsythe was batting .248 -- just above his career average of .247 -- but freshman Davis Merson replaced him after he committed 15 errors defensively.
It sounds like a situation where a talented player just needs a change of scenery and he will get that in Stillwater with the Cowboys.
