Report: Former Oklahoma State Pitcher Carrie Eberle Joining Staff as Pitching Coach

STILLWATER – It appears Oklahoma State softball has found its new pitching coach. It was reported by Justin McLeod of Extra Inning Softball that Kenny Gajewski is bringing in former Cowgirl pitcher Carrie Eberle to be the next pitching coach.

This news comes a few weeks following the retirement of former OSU pitching coach, John Bargfeldt.

Eberle served on Gajewski’s staff as a grad assistant following the 2021 season.

Eberle, a transfer from Virginia Tech joined the Cowgirl program prior to the 2020 season, a season cut short by the COVID-19 shutdown. She was instrumental in helping get the Cowgirls back to the Women’s College World Series in 2021 as she finished the season with a 1.40 ERA in 34 appearances with 26 wins in 31 starts. She also threw 20 complete games in 190.1 innings pitched, allowing 139 hits to just 38 earned runs, with 156 strikeouts and 73 walks.

Following the season, Eberle was tabbed the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year. She was the ACC Pitcher of the Year in 2019.

The news of Eberle joining the staff has been known for a while and Pokes Report has learned this directly played a role in pitcher Kelly Maxwell entering into the transfer portal as she had no interest in being coached by Eberle.

This sounds really strange. Why would you hire an inexperienced coach for this position. She maybe a great coach over time but this is a big hire.

I just looked and her pitching staff last year was not good. Love Kenny but seems like a bold hire

Rob, It seems like you are a bid inexperienced and lack knowledge on the inside to make such a bold statement. What qualities make you a person qualified to make any such analysis? Maybe you should keep your ridiculous comments to yourself.
