STILLWATER – It was the third quarter of the game and the Baltimore Ravens trailing Philadelphia 13-10 in the week one NFL preseason opener. Not a big deal except that the Ravens have won 23 preseason games in a row. The last time Baltimore lost a preseason game, down the road in the White House was Barack Obama. The ball flew to the corner of the end zone and diving to make a heroic touchdown grab was former Oklahoma State and third-year Ravens receiver Tylan Wallace.

Wallace touchdown catch vs. Philly.

Wallace made the catch and gave the home team the lead. They went on to win 20-19 for NFL preseason win No. 24 in a row. For games that many believe count for little, the Ravens are bullet proof.

Going into his third season that was the second touchdown reception for Wallace, both in preseason games.

Wallace had one of what we thought were three big performances by former Oklahoma State Cowboys in NFL preseason week one. There were three former Cowboys making their NFL debut as Tyler Lacy played for Jacksonville in Arlington’s AT&T Stadium in front of family and friends as he grew up just northeast of the stadium in Sachse, Texas. Lacy had one unassisted tackle.

In Los Angeles, two former Pokes debuted for the Rams in a 34-17 loss to the Chargers. Kicker Tanner Brown is the only kicker in the Rams camp. That could change this week as he missed a 47-yard field goal in the first half. He did make both of his extra point attempts and he hit on a 39-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for the Rams.

Late round draft pick and Cowboys All-American safety Jason Taylor II played a lot for the Rams and finished with one unassisted tackle, but he was in on a lot of successful coverage in the contest. He also had a red zone touchdown caught just in front of him late in the second quarter.

Harper makes a good tackle against the Jags.

The other big performances, in our opinion, came from former quarterback Mason Rudolph in Pittsburgh and linebacker Devin Harper in Dallas in that game with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Harper had three unassisted tackles and three assisted stops. He had a brillian tackle on a screen play that forced a fourth down . Then in the fourth quarter on a handoff with Jacksonville nearing the red zone and Harper pounced on the miscue by Jaguars back Snoop Conner.

Rudolph in the run,.

Rudolph helped lead the Steelers to a 27-17 win over Tampa Bay and Rudolph’s college rival quarterback at OU in Baker Mayfield. Mayfield was good at 8-of-9 for 63-yards and a touchdown, but Rudolph marched the Steeler on a scoring drive in the second quarter hitting a chunck of his 7-of-12 passing for 132-yards and a touchdown. Rudolph also flashed speed with 15-yards on two carries, most of it coming on a scramble on the scoring drive.
