STILLWATER – Two scores from Hannah Chance helped lead Oklahoma State past Florida Atlantic, 3-0, Thursday night at Neal Patterson Stadium. With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 2-1-0, while FAU is now 0-1-2 on the season.
Adelhia Ghonda added a goal for OSU, while Grace Gordon and Ary Purifoy combined for three saves and a shutout. Chance found the back of the net in the 16th minute, putting the Cowgirls on the board. After her initial shot was blocked by a defender, Chance collected the rebound and delivered it to the near post for a 1-0 OSU lead.
OSU doubled its lead just before intermission when Ghonda took a pass from Alex Morris just outside the top of the box, spun and smashed a shot over FAU goalie Blythe Braun to the far post.
Less than five minutes into the second half, Chance scored her second goal of the evening and third of the season off a cross from Laudan Wilson to put OSU up by three scores.
Purifoy played the final 24 minutes in goal for the Cowgirls and posted a pair of diving saves to help secure the shutout win.
OSU finished with a 16-7 edge in shots in the match, while also tallying six corner kicks to just one for the Owls. The Cowgirls return to action Sunday when they host Little Rock at 1 p.m.
