Oklahoma State Open Big 12 Play at Iowa State at 3 p.m. in FS1
STILLWATER – The perfect kickoff time on the road for the visiting team is always 11 a.m., less time in the hotel sitting around and you get home quicker. In Ames, Iowa for Sept. 23 and the Big 12 conference opening game with Iowa State the Pokes will play at 3 p.m. and thegame will be televised on FS1. That is not bad.
Oklahoma State will avoid the night time kick in Ames, which like most places can have an amped up atmosphere in the evening. Long tailgates do that and Iowa State tailgates as well as anyone. The temperature should be fine on the longer natural grass of Jack Trice Stadium. While the Cowboys are 2-0 with South Alabama coming up this weekend, Iowa State just lost to rival Iowa 20-to-13 and the Cyclones are 1-1 with a trip to Athen, Ohio to play Ohio University of the MAC this Saturday.
Afternoon kick-offs have been common for the Cowboys and the Cyclones. The last time in Ames was a 2:30 p.m. kick on ABC. Last season Oklahoma State and Iowa State played a 2:30 p.m. game on ESPNU.
This game is 3 p.m. as FOX sometimes juggles afternoon time slots to fit a postgame show after their early 11 a.m. (central) games.
