Injury Report: De'Zhaun Stribling is Back for Iowa State, Plus Starting Quarterback Update
(Pokes Report publisher Robert Allen contributed to this article)
Oklahoma State (2-1) is one step closer to full health today as the Pokes have back a few top contributors against the Iowa State Cylcones.
Wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling is back from the injury he suffered in the second series of the game against South Alabama. He’s had a solid start the season as he’s hauled in 11 passes for 138 yards and one touchdown.
Another big boost for the Pokes will be the addition of linebacker Justin Wright, who’s been out since early in the season opener against Central Arkansas. The Tulsa transfer didn’t record any stats in that game, but is going to be a good addition for this defense.
Offensive tackle Jake Springfield was banged up a bit in the season opener and is probable for today’s game against ISU. Redshirt junior receiver Cale Cabbiness is back practicing again, but will not be playing up in Ames. He’s the Cowboys’ only player who’s out today.
As for the starting quarterback, Gundy and Co. has given the nod to redshirt senior transfer, Alan Bowman, who will stay in for now. Gundy told Dave Hunziker of the Cowboy Radio Network Bowman would be starting his third game in a row and has the nod as the quarterback.
In three games, Bowman has gone 30-of-52 for 235 yards and zero touchdowns. The quarterbacks are splitting time with each other, with Gunnar Gundy going 21-of-34 for 202 yards and one touchdown and Garret Rangel going 17-of-29 for 172 yards and two touchdowns.
