Oklahoma State Battles, but Loses to No. 20 Colorado on the Road

BOULDER, Colo. – Oklahoma State women's basketball team nearly secured its first road victory of the season in a tight loss to No. 20 Colorado, 86-75 in the CU Events Center on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Cowgirls fell to 2-1 on the season, while the Buffaloes move to 3-0.
Anna Gret Asi scored an early eight points in the contest, as the Cowgirls went back-and-forth with the Buffaloes in the first quarter. CU added five points in the final two minutes of the quarter to pull ahead, 24-16.
The Cowgirls exploded in the second quarter for 23 points, while holding Colorado to only 11 points in the quarter. Stailee Heard and Lior Garzon combined for five threes in the quarter as OSU held a 39-35 lead going into halftime.
The Buffaloes opened the second half with back-to-back layups to tie the game. Garzon and Quincy Noble drilled back-to-back threes to put the Cowgirls back on top by six, 47-41.
The Pokes held a three-point lead going into the fourth quarter, 59-56.
The Cowgirls and Buffaloes went back-and-forth for most of the quarter, trading baskets as the game was knotted at 66 apiece with 5:20 left in the fourth. CU took the lead with 5:05 remaining, a lead it would not relinquish as the Cowgirls dropped their first game of the season, 86-75.
As a team, OSU set a new school record with 15 made three-pointers as the Pokes shot 53.6% from beyond the arc in tonight's contest.
Asi led the Cowgirls with 25 points and six treys, chipping in with four assists as well.
