STILLWATER – In the moments following the Oklahoma State 40-34 double overtime win over BYU, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy was asked about going to play Texas next Saturday morning in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas for the Big 12 Championship.

Pat Kinnison - Chief Photographer
Gundy with quarterback Alan Bowman.

“They may make them a 20-point favorite,” Gundy spitballed not really caring about the Vegas odds or anybody’s odds for that matter.

This is gonna be tough. Not impossible, but we're going to have to see a level of play better than that we honestly have only seen a time or two this year. Go Pokes

For our oSu Cowboys to beat Texas, we're going to have to play two second halfs.
We simply cannot come out like we normally do and jack around, looking like poorly coached and underprepared idiots only to awaken in the second half and remember that we have a football game we can win.
And we can beat Texas.

Texas barely beat KSU, Houson and should have beaten ou but couldn't deal with a speeded up sooner offense.

Texas will be a heavy favorite and if they play to their recruiting and potential, we don't have a chance. But for some reason Gundy plays the UT game so differently than most Bedlam games.
Go figure.
BUT.....

We can beat Texas, but Gundy has to go at the game like his pants are on fire and he can't put them out until the game is over.
And he has to tell OC Dunn to call a game like his job depended on it. Dunn is so predictable most of the time and it's so damn annoying and frustrating.
Hey, Holgy is suddenly available.
I know there are rules, but do we really want to follow them now?

I think it's important to only look at common opponents and crunch the numbers there.
Here is Ok State compared to Texas Vs those 6 common opponents:
Total Offensive Yards- OK State +76 yards
Total Rushing Yards- Texas +165 yards
Total Passing Yards- OK State +241 yards
Total Points Scored- OK State +10 points
Total 1st Downs- OK State +14 1st downs
3rd Downs Off average- OK State 44.7% vs. Texas 37.8%
Turnovers Against- OK State 4 Fewer Turnovers

Total Defensive Yards- Texas 387 fewer yards
Total Defensive Rushing Yards- Texas 319 fewer yards
Total Defensive Passing Yards - Texas 68 fewer yards
Total Defensive Points- Texas 51 fewer Points
Total Defensive 1st Downs- OK State 2 fewer 1st downs
3rd Down Def average- Texas 21.8% vs. OK State 44.3%
Turnovers For- OK State 3 more Turnovers

Also Texas/Oklahoma State were the same either Home/Away vs all common opponents (except red river)

Did Ewers QB all of those games? Who the QB was is more important than simply listing numbers.

TOs and penalties are probably the only 2 stats that could be indicative of a potential outcome.

Just my 2c. OSU need to feed them a high dose of Ollie Gordon and Bowman can't afford throwing a single int. In this game. Control the game speed and definitely this is not a game they can afford to get behind as they have done in the past two. Just my superstition but this year OSU seem to do much better when being a huge underdog ESPN predictor gives the pokes only an 11.9% chance of winning I like the odds!

My 2c..... play up tempo - the whole game.

Those huge UT Dlinemen wont be able to sustain that level of effort for long, and us not substituting will not allow UT to take those tired linemen off the field. (OU did this to them, to some extent).

Our team is not built for tempo this year. We are clock controlling team. Unless Gundy changes something big this week, we will not go fast.

Use the TIGHTENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both Sinnott (KState) and Wiley (TCU) had a lot of success helping move the chains!!!

you do realize that statement does not make any sense at all. Right?

We control the clock with our ground game because we can (for once), not because we cannot go fast.

you are right. Clock controlling is not the term I should have used. We are not a tempo/turbo team. We need time to score. We dont have huge long play treats excet for maybe Ollie sometimes.

????

Up tempo does not mean throwing deep balls either.

It does not necessarily mean quick drives for TDs either.
