Big Days for Ollie Gordon II as He Remains a Cowboy and Waits to Hear on Doak Walker

STILLWATER – I was driving home tonight and had a friend reach out in a panic. He had just watched Channel 9 (KWTV) sports at 6 p.m. and was cussing Dean Blevins for coming out and speculating that Ollie Gordon II might not be a Cowboy next season. It was hard for me to tell exactly what was said as he was spending too much time explaining his distast for Blevins and how he never has anything positive to say about Oklahoma State. It turns out that Blevins wasn’t even working and that it was back-up and reporter Chris Williams that anchored and pitched to a report. My friend did mention Dusty Dvoracek was on and had talked about it. I had been in contact earlier in the day and when Dusty inquired, I had told him that the Pokes with a Purpose collective had been working with Gordon II to make sure he was happy and that he was going to continue to add on to his brilliant resume’ as a running back at Oklahoma State. Gordon II does have a very good deal for the future at Oklahoma State.

“I don’t know what was said, but in my report I said it looked good and that Oklahoma State had done what it took to make Gordon II happy,” Dvoracek said when I asked about his report. “I had another source I spoke to that said the same thing that you had.”

Dvoracek has done a good job in his game broadcasts and his reporting on Oklahoma State. He has been very fair and he has a good relationship with head coach Mike Gundy. You just have to cut through some of the local mismash and there is some of that.

This touchdown in overtime in the BYU win may have been the most dramatic this season for Ollie.

None of the truly major All-American teams have been released just yet, but so far Gordon II has made every one of them and joins two other Big 12 standouts that have done the same. Gordon II, who had 1,614-yards to lead the nation and 20 rushing touchdowns on 258 carries is first-team on The Athletic, CBS Sports, USA Today, Pro Football Focus, and Sports Illustrated. He is joined on each of those five teams by Kansas State offensive guard Cooper Beebe and Texas defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat.

My guess is those three will make them all and be unanamous All-Americans. The Walter Camp All-American team is out tomorrow night as part of ESPN’s College Football Awards Show. Another part of that is the Doak Walker Award being announced. Gordon II is a finalist along with Cody Schrader of Missouri and Omarion Hampton of North Carolina.

There is a virtual party ready for the announcement with Gordon II and his mother along with head coach Mike Gundy and running backs coach John Wozniak.

You can see that show tomorrow night (Friday, Dec. 8) starting at 6 p.m. (CT).

Is there any monetary award associated with any of these awards, or only trophies?

I was asking bc I don't watch the awards. Haven't in years. Did not know they were now all virtual. And that paragraph did not do a good job of informing the reader. I was asking for clarifications.
