Oklahoma State Gets A Commitment from a Jumbo Back for 2024 Class
STILLWATER – Wrapping up his visit this weekend in Stillwater and perhaps, the best mystery man or as many recruiting fans love to label, the surprise on signing day (or close to it) is Jaden Allen-Hendrix. He is a surprise in that his offer list is primarily lower FBS and FCS schools coming out of Irmo High School in Columbia S.C. His numbers are huge and the Oklahoma State recruiting staff jumped on the evaluation and his late offer and weekend visit led him to make a commitment to the Cowboys.
“I had a great visit and Oklahoma State is a great place for me,” Allen-Hendrix said after his visit and before he posted his commitment.
His commitment post on X read: “First I would like to give the highest praises to God for all the blessings he has given me. I am also so grateful for all the coaches that showed support and helped me get here,” he wrote on the post. “I would like to thank my family and friends for all their support during this process. I’M HOME!!”
Allen-Hendrix is a big, powerful force and that description comes from opponents and the folks that cover high school football in South Carolina. His numbers are off the chart with this past fall a championship run fueled by Allen-Hendrix’ 232 carries for 2,215-yards, 9.5-ypc, 25 rushing touchdowns along with 21 receptions for 363-yards, 17.3-ypr, and four receiving touchdowns.
By the way his career numbers are eye popping as well. Allen-Hendrix has 423 carries for 3,825-yards, 9.0-ypc, and 51 rushing touchdowns. As a receiver out of the backfield he has 38 receptions for 634-yards, 16.7-ypr, seven receiving touchdowns.
When you watch his video you quickly see he is quite capable of running over defenders, but his speed and ability to run away from them gets your attention as well. He is also a very talented receiver coming out of the backfield. The few times I was able to see it he also gives great effort on pass protection which is a big deal for me in proving the maturity of a running back.
He showed his abilities transferring from Gilbert High School in an early season game for Irmo where he rushed for four touchdowns in a 35-21 Irmo victory over Hallsville.
Allen-Hendrix is a legit 6-2, 225-pounds and he has the speed and elusiveness to be a very valuable offensive weapon in the future at Oklahoma State. It allows the Cowboys to have a future running back room that allows for multiple talented runners that can adapt to both zone and gap scheme running attacks. It also provides a back similar to what Gordon has become in having the strength and power to get the job done in the score zone, really six-yards and in.
