STILLWATER – I don’t spend a lot of time reading social media. I will respond and do respond to every message I receive at Pokes Report. I have the daily radio show and I take every call and have a text line and I read every text as long as their is no vulgarity. I read text messages that are highly critical of me. That is just what I believe.

I'm all for cancelling NIL deals or anything else we have to do to buy this guy out right now and move on.

He was only moderately successful with players that he inherited, then only got Cunningham because he did the deal that many consider shady by hiring his brother and pushing good coaches aside.

He moved Sutton and the other good coaches aside so he could promote clearly unproven black coaches (by his own admission). He embarrassed the fans with his BLM stance and statements to the black coaches association. It's all in writing and documented if anybody cares too pay attention.

He can't keep experienced players on the roster and has to essentially recruit an entire new team every freaking season.

Bigs won't stay more that a year, and he can't recruit a PG to save his life. Small is the closest that he's gotten so far.

I use to give him credit for the defensive play, and the "no quit" effort of the players, but that now seems to be gone too.

This guy is way, way, way worse than any coach that we've had in the past 2 decades.

I cannot name even one redeeming quality.

Boynton has got to go. OSU is WAAAY too loyal to coaches. Yes, you have to give them time to succeed. He's had enough time. More than enough. The results aren't there. The trajectory is not there. There is no glimmer of hope there for OSU basketball. This is a program totally lost and adrift. Something must be done.

I'm going to say something I never thought I'd hear myself say, because I never believed it to be wise. But now I will. Bring Doug home. There it is, I said it. May as well try. Pay him a pittance, make him prove himself. He's already said he'd take it for a pittance. What is there to lose?

We can thank Holder for this mess. He gave him a terrible contract on the way out the door without even talking to our new AD. This is his final mess now his buy out is going to be very expensive so what do you do?

Well count me in the not fully convinced we need to change. I do think Boynton is in that does everything but win. Paul Hansen was a guy that couldn't land recruits but took whoever he had and got 200% out of them, but that still didn't result in enough wins. It was sad to see Coach Hansen go, and I was there for his last game in a pretty Gallagher, and there was a lot of love for him, but it wasn't working.

I think Boynton is at that same point. But, he can recruit and its sad to see all that talent flailing around on the court with so little success. There's still time for him to get this team on track, and them win enough to make the tourney or more likely the NIT. While that looks out of reach now, it does fit his pattern where abysmal first half seasons lead to good 2nd halves. So I won't be shocked if that occurs. In fact I'll be pulling for that and enjoy it.

I'd guess that we're at a point where it is most likely we'll see him back for at least one more year. If he can't keep these kids, or get them to playing well next year then I'd say it's time to pull the trigger.

And, Robert I do get that he's got a lot of young guys this year, but I see all the other Big XII games with Freshmen playing well. So it's odd to see our Freshmen struggle so much. Garrison looks like the real deal, and I hope we continue to see him develop here in Stillwater, but he's playing way behind other big freshmen we've seen this year.

Not sure why race entered into the equation on his post, but unfortunately Coach Mike isn't getting it done. Don't care what color he is, it's time to move on. Great guy, not a great coach yet. I think he needs to go be an assistant under a proven coach for a couple seasons and learn how to build a roster and make in-game adjustments.

Maybe everyone has forgotten that Boynton had a lot of help from NCAA with their restrictions on recruiting and scholarships inherited from previous mistakes. He is a gentleman on the court and represents OSU well with the hand he was delt. Give the guy a break

GRADUATED WITH ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING DEGREE AND SO DID MY SON. SO LETS NOT ASSUME I AM THE LITTLE HOUSE WIFE. AND IF MY SON HAD AN EXTRA RIBBON FOR ME TO DISPLAY FOR RECIEVING THE BEST ENGINEERING DESIGN IN THE USA 3 YEARS AGO I WOULD HAVE PROUDLY DISPLAYED IT

I don't think that's been forgotten. The things that are being questioned are things he did control. In fact the limits have not stopped him from bringing in good talent, the issue is what happens with the talent on hand.

Long passes across traffic, jacked shots early in the clock, no real offensive plan being apparent are things you can coach regardless of how many players are on the team.

Take the kids he had over the previous 3 years and you can see them getting better with experience, but they still had tendencies to slip into that AAU style offense that generated turnovers and quick empty possessions. Those are pretty basic things and issues you'd expect to see eliminated.

I do hate so many talking about not watching the team anymore. I understand why, but just remember that regardless of how it's playing out, those young men are playing for OSU, and deserve our support.

That is simply an excuse used by the "poor us" crowd, and it's not actually true.

We've already established that his "recruiting" has been good, and "scholarships" has not ever been an issue.

We landed Cunningham with the threat of post season ban looming.... not a problem then, then we actually had to enforce the ban, but that team wasn't going to make post season anyway.

We delayed limiting the scholarships until the very last minute, so essentially six years of no restrictions, and frankly we don't play 13 guys anyway, at most only 10 or 11 get into a game.

He has had essentially no impactful limitations placed on him or the program. None.

That "poor us" / NCAA excuse is nothing more than that, another excuse.

WOW!
NJAggie, have you not been paying attention to any of these seasons? How about the way our players are playing basketball (or the lack thereof)?
Do you see how GIA has fallen off the planet as a rowdy arena?
Do you know why that might be?
I understand you want to give Boynton another 10 years before you can pull the plug on this unmitigated disaster?
We simply must rid ourselves of Boynton because he cannot coach at this level. Stop the bleeding. Send him packing with the buyout money and get someone here that has proven he knows how to coach at this level.
I know there are rules, but do we really want to follow them now?

Well I have watched almost all the games. But there is still a lot of games to play. Many of you were yelling for Gundy's head 3 weeks into football.

While I'm not optimistic, I do think nothing is going to happen until after this season or next so badmouthing everyone on the team and staff is probably not the most productive way to behave.

But, go ahead attack them and see if it helps.
