STILLWATER – With the season-opening series against Sam Houston State cancelled due to weather, Oklahoma State Cowboy baseball has added a weekend series with Wichita State. The O’Brate home-opener against Little Rock has also been moved due to weather-related issues.

The Pokes will now host the Trojans on Wednesday, Feb. 24 and will play just one game. Opening pitch is slated for 4:00 p.m.

For the opening of the season, Josh Holliday and Co. will travel up to Wichita for a two-game series against the Shockers on Sunday (Feb. 21) and Monday (Feb. 22) with the first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. for both games.

The weather forecast for Stillwater on Wednesday for the official opening of O’Brate Stadium will be a cool and crisp 51 degrees.

While the series against Sam Houston State is no longer on, you can check out our preview of the series, which includes a starting lineup and starting pitching rotation.

Huge shame as I rearranged my business schedule to attend. My brother was traveling from Arizona so we could enjoy this together. Then tell me that it is because they cannot deal with the snow on the field but schedule a road trip to wichita to play two games Saturday and Monday... Messing with fans plans are never a positive thing.

Sam Houston made the decision yesterday because they're having issues with water and snow on the campus. The Cowboys immediately starting looking for a regional makeup game(s). Personally, I prefer playing Wichita State on Sunday and Monday than a weekend series against SHU.
