Cowgirls Near All-Time Record Win Streak After Beating McNeese
LAKE CHARLES, La. – The No. 10 Oklahoma State softball team improved to 9-0 on the year with a 5-0 win at McNeese Tuesday. Oklahoma State is now 6-0 on the rooad trip after four wins in Conroe over the weekend and the Monday win at Lamar. Dating back to last season, the Cowgirls have won 21 consecutive games, one shy of the school record that was originally set in 1988 and then matched in 1989.
Returning All-American Carrie Eberle pitched a gem in the circle, allowing no runs and just two hits. Eberle fanned five batters in the shut out. OSU was locked in a pitcher’s duel until the top of the fifth inning, when the Cowgirls broke through to score three runs and then tacked on an extra run in the seventh inning.
Alysen Febrey led the way for the Cowgirls offensively, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. The returning All-American’s hit streak now stands at 14 games, dating back to last season. Chyenne Factor also went 2-for-4 with two RBI on the night, including a solo homer in the top of the first inning.
The Cowgirls are back in action Friday, Feb. 26 when they travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for a doubleheader against No. 11 LSU, with the contests scheduled for 4 & 6:30 p.m. CT.
