STILLWATER – I can honestly tell you that I continue to make phone calls and touch base with people that I think are in the loop on the Oklahoma State coaching ssearch. The two people that I know are fully aware of all there is to know in the search are athletic director Chad Weiberg and deputy athletic director Reid Sigmon. You won’t get anything out of those two. I have heard some scoop from sources I believe. There may be a new leader on that front.

it better be Matta or Alford if we can afford either of them

You can't be serious.

We should be targeting DeVries, Sprinkle, Wade and Jans/Lutz in that order.

Matta? That guy's the biggest retread on the list and well past his prime

Looking at the Drake roster, his son is a serious baller (averages about 22 ppg) who is a junior and they have a freshman from OKC that averages double figures. Would be a good start!

I would like DeVries, my only concern is that Michigan and WVU are interested as well and are probably more attractive jobs.

well.... not if you're being honest. You cannot list another coach on that list with his accolades, experience and level of success. He is by far the best.

Matta is only 56, and he's hardly a "retread", having only been HC at 3 schools, two were step up promotions, and he IS the winningest coach in Ohio State HISTORY, stepping down for health reasons his final year there, his only season as a HC at that point with fewer than 20 wins at any school.

He was Associate AD at Indiana until he came back to coaching 2 years ago at Butler in the tough Big East, he won 18 games this year and went 9-11 in the Beast with a NIT bid, and we all know how under rated the BEast was this year (right Virginia?)

His first season in coaching he won 24 games and was conference coach of the year, and national rookie coach of the year. His team made it to the 2nd round of the NCAA

In his 3 years at Xavior he was A10 coach of the year, won the conference 2/3 years and took his team to the Elite 8 in the NCAA, and was a finalist for the Naismith National Coach of the Year Award when tOSU hired him

At tOSU in his first season his team beat #1 undefeated Illinois in the final game of the season. In his 2nd season his team made it to the 2nd round of the NCAA. In his 3rd year he won the B1G, and made it to the NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. They won the NIT championship in 2008. 2009 was 1st round loss in the NCAA. 2010 was a trip to the sweet 16. in 2011 they were a #1 seed in the NCAA. In 2012 they made the Elite 8, 2013 FINAL 4.

Not only is he NOT A RETREAD, he is one of the winningest coaches in the entire country.

We desperately need this man to lead us back to glory.

I just read that Matta is making $3.5 million base salary at Butler, plus incentives and endorsements, so he's probably out of our price range - as sad as that sounds.
