STILLWATER – Columbus, Texas quarterback Adam Schobel posted on Twitter/X on Monday (April 22) that he has de-committed from Baylor University and will now be heading to Oklahoma State for college. The 6-5, 204 pound Schobel, who plays for his father Matt Schobel as his head coach led the Columbus Cardinals to a 24-3 record overall and a 7-1 district record the past two seasons. He was the District 12-3A-I Co-Offensive MVP last season. Schobel has thrown for 5,200-yards the last two seasons and 66 touchdown passes. He has been pledged to Baylor since June of 2023.

“It was the hardest phone call I’ve had to make,” Schobel told Pokes Report.

Schobel had told Pokes Report that part of the reason that he took the visit to Oklahoma State back on April 5-7 was the coaches that had recruited him to Baylor and especially Shawn Bell had left the Bears staff. Bell is currently the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator on Willie Fritz staff at the University of Houston.

The visit to Stillwater and spending time with the Oklahoma State staff including head coach Mike Gundy and quarterbacks coach Tom Rattay gave him so much to think about. Schobel and his family had a good visit to Oklahoma State. Schobel told us coming off that visit that he was very impressed with everything and Oklahoma State had given him a lot to think about. Thinking turned into a decision.

The Cowboys also followed up and doubled down on the Schobel family as they offered John Schobel, a cousin of Adam’s. Adam’s father Matt, played in the NFL as a tight end for the Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles. John’s father Aaron, a defensive end, also played at TCU and had a distinguished NFL career with the Buffalo Bills.

John Schobel is scheduled to make an official visit to Oklahoma State this next weekend, April 26-28.

He is a apple that did not fall far from the tree, Schobel is a  two-time District 12-3A-1 Defensive MVP that doubles on defense as a defensive end and outside linebacker and a tight end on offense.

This represents major news for Adam, Oklahoma State football, and the entire Schobel family.

Nice pickup, Aranda has created a revolving door of coaches on offense and it worked in Mike Gundy and OSUs favor!!!

Wow! Something must be in the recruiting water fountain this year in Stillwater. Got to give Gundy and his coaches alot of credit! Love competition in the QB room. Who really wants it? There is a great article on ESPN about the USC QB who has been sitting behind Williams the last two years and had a breakout game in the Holiday Bowl throwing for 350 and six TDs..

USC's Miller Moss waited patiently for his shot. Now he has it - ESPN

I can't recall a time when OSU had a seemingly top level qb in 5 different classes. In fact, I can't remember this type of stacking in 4 or 3 levels! Great situation for next season when we lose Bowman. Tough competition.
