IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State's women's tennis team was well-represented in the Big 12 All-Conference awards which were announced Thursday afternoon. Ange Oby Kajuru was named the Big 12 Player of the Year, while Anastasiya Komar earned Newcomer of the Year honors and Chris Young received the Coach of the Year nod.

Pokes Report
Lucia Peyre earned 1st-team All-Big 12 in singles.

Additionally, Kajuru and Komar were named to the All-Big 12 first teams in singles and doubles as unanimous selections, while Lucia Peyre earned All-Big 12 first-team singles honors. Safiya Carrington and Ayumi Miyamoto were selected to the All-Big 12 second team in singles and Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez earned a spot on the All-Big 12 second team for their doubles play.

Kajuru was also named the Big 12 No. 2 Singles Position Champion, going 9-0 on court two during conference matches this season. Peyre earned recognition as the No. 3 Singles Position Champion, getting seven wins on court three.

Kajuru becomes the fourth Cowgirl to earn Big 12 Player of the Year honors and first since Bunyawi Thamchaiwat in 2022. Komar, the LSU transfer, is the third Oklahoma State player to be named Newcomer of the Year and first since 2015.

This is the third time in program history OSU has earned Coach of the Year honors and the second time for Young as he received the award in 2016.

Kajuru's All-Big 12 team selections were the fourth and fifth of her career but first two as a Cowgirl. Miyamoto earned her fourth All-Big 12 nomination while Peyre was selected to the singles first team for the second-consecutive year. Gonzalez also earned All-Big 12 doubles honors for the second-straight season.

Kajuru and Peyre become the seventh and eighth position champions in program history and the first pair of teammates to do so in the same season since Katarina Adamovic and Maria Alvarez in 2014.

No. 1 Oklahoma State will look to continue its historic season as it hosts an NCAA Regional this weekend, opening against the MAAC Champion Fairfield on Saturday at 4 p.m.
