Home Runs Galore at O'Brate as Oklahoma State Pounds Tech in Series Opener

STILLWATER – A seven home run night propelled No. 19 Oklahoma State to a 16-4 victory over Texas Tech Friday at O'Brate Stadium. With the win, OSU improved to 33-16 overall and 16-9 in Big 12 play, while the Red Raiders dropped to 30-21 and 12-16 in league play.
Aidan Meola was 3-for-4 and drove in two runs for the Cowboys, while Colin Brueggemann had two hits and tied a career high with five RBIs. Ian Daugherty also collected two hits and picked up three RBIs.
OSU now has 97 home runs on the season, with 67 of those coming in their home ballpark.
On the mound, Sam Garcia improved to 5-3, tossing seven innings and striking out 10, the second time this season he has fanned double-digit batters in a game. The southpaw allowed just one run on five hits.
OSU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a solo homer from Zach Ehrhard and a two-run blast off the bat of Meola.
The Pokes' offense exploded in the third inning with eight runs. Brueggemann doubled to bring home the first run, and Daugherty, Lane Forsythe, Tyler Wulfert and Carson Benge all homered to push the lead to 11.
Texas Tech grabbed a run back in the fifth inning on a solo blast by Cade McGee, and the Red Raiders also added a trio of runs in the eighth on a home run from Drew Woodcox.
The Cowboys poured on five more runs in the bottom half of the eighth to run away with the win, with the big blow coming on a Brueggemann grand slam, his 14th homer of the season.
OSU will look to clinch the series Saturday with first pitch set for 6 p.m.
