Oklahoma State Lands Stellar Washington Transfer Pitcher Ruby Meylan
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State softball and Kenny Gajewski just landed a monster transfer out of the portal. On Thursday evening, Washington pitcher, Ruby Meylan, took to Twitter to announce her decision to commit to and sign with the Cowgirls.
Meylan joins a long line of great transfer pitches brought in by Gajewski: Sam Show, Carrie Eberle, Miranda Elish, Ivy Rosenberry and Lexi Kilfoyl, with Kifoyl coming off a season in which she earned Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and was one of three finalists for the National Collegiate Player of the Year.
This past season as a sophomore, Meylan was stellar as she finished the season with a 2.55 ERA in 123.2 innings pitched, with 139 strikeouts and 55 walks. Her 139 strikeouts would’ve ranked third in the Big 12 this past season.
Following this past season, Meylan was tabbed NFCA First Team All-Region and First Team All-Pac 12.
As a freshman in 2023, she posted a 2.14 ERA in 46 appearances, 180 innings pitched, with an impressive 204 strikeouts to just 52 walks. That strikeout total would’ve been second in the Big 12 last season behind then-OSU pitcher Kelly Maxwell and ahead of OU’s Jordy Bahl.
Following her freshman season, she was tabbed an NFCA Third Team All-American, NFCA All-Pacific Region First Team, First Team All-Pac 12 and Pac-12 All-Freshman
Meylan is no stranger to pitching at the highest level either as she threw in three games in the 2023 Women’s College World Series.
Gajewski and Co. are set to lose both Kilfoyl and Rosenberry as they’re officially out of eligibility, and return junior Kyra Aycock, sophomore Saylor Davis, sophomore Katie Kutz and senior Kathryn Ogg, pending no player enters the transfer portal.
Originally out of Omaha, NE, Meylan earned the Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year in 2022.
