Oklahoma State Wrestling Ties Program Record with 10 Academic All-Big 12
STILLWATER – The 2024 Winter Academic All-Big 12 Team was announced on Tuesday, as the Oklahoma State wrestling team earned 10 total selections to tie the program record set in 2022. Seven Cowboys garnered first team honors as three others landed on the second team.
Additionally, Cowboy wrestling has now posted at least seven first team members in three straight years, the program's longest such streak since the recognition began in 1997.
Daton Fix (Master's in Leisure Studies) continued his impressive work in the classroom with another first team selection, becoming the first five-time honoree in program history. Dustin Plott and Luke Surber (both Agribusiness) appeared on the first team for the third season in a row, while Joey Sanchez (Nutritional Sciences/Human Nutrition/Pre-Medical Sciences) was tabbed for the second time in his career. Andrew Bloemhof (Master of Business Administration), Sam Sherrer (General Business/Pre-Law) and Evan Shetley (Biology/Pre-Medical Sciences) all made the first team in their final seasons as a Cowboy.
A 2023 first team member, Konner Doucet (Agribusiness) was named to the second team alongside first-time honorees Daniel Manibog (Master of Business Administration) and Teague Travis (Applied Exercise Science/Strength and Conditioning).
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20% of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
