STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State long jumper Jacob Fincham-Dukes qualified for the final and placed fifth overall at the Olympic Games, becoming the highest finisher in program history in an individual event.

Fincham-Dukes best jump on Tuesday in Paris.

Fincham-Dukes made the final with the final jump of the qualifying round at 7.96 meters. In the final, He equaled that mark on his first attempt before launching his competition-best 8.14 meters on his second try. That mark was good enough to secure his top 5 finish for Great Britain after entering the Olympics ranked No. 20 in the world.

His fifth-place finish overall was the best finish by a former Cowboy track & field athlete, surpassing fellow Great Britain athlete and former NCAA champion Nick Miller, who placed sixth overall at the 2020 Tokyo Games in the Hammer Throw. Former Cowboy sprinter J.W. Mashburn earned the program's lone gold medal as a member of the United Stated 4x400 Meter Relay squad at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne.

Fincham-Dukes wraps up an incredible outdoor campaign that included a fourth-place finish at the European Athletics Championships in June, before winning the UK Championships later that same month.
