Big Innings Lead Cowgirls Past Lobos

STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State softball team improved to 17-1 on the year by sweeping New Mexico 7-2 and 4-1 on Saturday.

Senior Logan Simunek got the start in the circle for game one of the doubleheader, recording her second win of the season with a complete game. Simunek fanned eight Lobos while surrendering just two earned runs.

After three scoreless innings, OSU reeled off three runs in both the third and fourth innings before tacking on one more in the sixth.

Kiley Naomi led the way for the Cowgirls in game one with a 3-for-4 line, two RBI, and a towering home run. Sydney Pennington went 2-for-2 in the first game with a walk and a RBI.

In game two, lefty Kelly Maxwell got the ball in the circle for the Cowgirls.

Maxwell (6-0, 0.00 ERA) threw her fourth complete game of the season, allowing no earned runs and striking out five in the appearance. She has not allowed an earned run in 36.1 consecutive innings.

Hayley Busby (2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI) and Raquel Dominguez (2-for-2, HR, RBI) led the offense in game two with back-to-back home runs that gave the Cowgirls the lead and the win.

Oklahoma State softball is back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. CT against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
