STILLWATER – Here’s a phrase that gets repeated every year right around this time: Man, is it time to play a game? The players are tired of practicing without the reward of a Saturday. The coaches are all curious as to how well they’ve prepared their teams, and they want the challenge of the 100-yard chess match with the staff on the other side of the field.

I hope I'm wrong but I don't see the Pokes winning by 16. South Dakota State is very well coached and plays winning football and will not be overwhelmed. I think they will hang around the whole game and that is not negative comment on the Pokes.

I think WVU will cover vs Penn State and maybe win outright. The Nittany Lions have two new coordinators and that usually means a slow start. Morgantown will be rocking for this game!

They don't have the size or speed to match OSU!!!

Just win, baby. Don't care if it's by a field goal as time expires.

I think I'm with Robert - speed kills, and you can't teach it. We'll have faster players on both sides of the ball. Also speed of the game; if we get the run game going and go up-tempo it could be a long day for the JR's. If our defense is sound we win going away.

Unusual for a Division 1 FCS team, SDSU likes to go fast tempo themselves. They had 8 players from last year's team make NFL camps this year. Their quarterback is believed to be an NFL draft worthy qb at the end of this season. They're OL is virtually the same size as us and has a couple NFL prospects starting....about even there. They love tight ends. Have put three in the NFL in recent years. They use two often. They're bigger at linebacker but smaller than us on DL. That's one advantage for the Pokes. This could be tough.....Bowman needs to stay healthy, upright and not throw picks. I think besides speed our depth may affect them. Something like 38-30 or 44-33 wouldn't surprise me, hopefully with Pokes on top! But if our D has grown up more....maybe we can enjoy a better margin.

I read in another post that SDSU runs a 3-3-5 and routinely puts only 6 in the box. Against that alignment Ollie has to make them pay. If they shift to cover zero to load the box then Bowman and the receivers better hurt them.

Our D line outweighs them by about 5 to 7 pounds!!!!!!!!! Our O Line outweighs their D line by about 25 pounds!!!

If we don't turn the ball over, pokes by 3 tuddies.

This would be a wonderful and likely meaningful outcome.

Yup Bowman and the passing game hurt them with them crowding the box all day!!!
