(The details in this story were passed on by a press release from in House Advertising and Make a Wish Oklahoma.)
STILLWATER – This coming Saturday 15-year-old Emily is going to get her wish. A passionate football fan that has so many dreams will get this one to meet Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy and witness up close the intensity and desire along with the work ethic and drive for the Cowboys as they finish preparation and go into competition against the Arkansas Razorbacks at 11 a.m. on national television (ABC). The Cowboys moved up the ntional polls one spot in each to No. 17 (USA TODAY) and No. 16 (Associated Press).
Emily has battled leukemia, but it has never kept her fandom of Oklahoma State football and her admiration of Mike Gundy and the Cowboys players. This game day experience that will include spending pregame with Coach Gundy, a special look at the Friday walk thru, a chance to meet Coach Gundy there with the entire team.
After practice, Emily and her family will eat the dinner of champions during a special Eskimo Joes experience. This will be followed by a private night-time tour of the stadium, where Emily will get an insider's view of the facilities while it is lit in Oklahoma’s brightest orange.
Saturday there will be “The Walk” and then one of the highlights for Emily will be going out with the captains for the pregame coin toss. I know I’m excited as I will get an opportunity to see the excitement that Emily will have out there at the 50-yard-line for the toss.
The granting of this wish comes from the courtesy and generosity of Oklahoma State Athletics and the dedication of the Make-A-Wish Oklahoma team.
“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to bring this wish to life for Emily,” said Katie Iannazzo, Director of Program Services at Make-A-Wish Oklahoma. “Her resilience and enthusiasm have inspired all of us, and it is an honor to collaborate with Oklahoma State Athletics to create such a meaningful experience for her.”
Oklahoma State Athletics Department shared their excitement about the upcoming event, stating, “It’s a privilege to be part of making Emily’s wish come true. We look forward to welcoming her to our football family and sharing the excitement of game day with her.”
I know how I love each and every coin toss that I cover for the Cowboys Radio Network and I especially look forward to this one with Emily joining us.
