Watch: Mike Gundy Talks 42-20 Blowout Loss to Kansas State

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy met with the media on Saturday afternoon to discuss the 42-20 blowout loss to Kansas State.

“I asked [the team] to follow my lead on everything we do all the time,” Gundy said on what he told the team after the game. “I asked them to trust me as a leader. And then I explain to them what I’m gonna do and what I think is best for the team, and then they have a choice to make. I think they’ll come and they’ll work tomorrow, they’ll fight Monday and they’ll be excited to get out there and play and our coaches will be excited about coaching them. That’s really you’re only option, because we have a lot of games left. We need guys who wanna come out and compete and play hard.”

I'm sorry, but how in the world do you have a 7th year QB, 6th year o-line starters, a superb cadre of wide receivers, doak walker award RB return, and be so damn inept offensively???
Gundy should either retire or clean house with his current coaching staff. Enough is enough!!

This house should've been cleaned years ago.

Maybe I've missed it, but I never heard Gundy say I'm responsible!!!

Rule #1 of Leadership begins with understanding and accepting you are responsible for everything under your umbrella!

Ok let's talk football.

All of the questions above are legitimate questions being asked by sportswriters and supporters.

Our Offensive schemes are not working. Our offense cannot run the ball. (what else is new). Our QB has happy feet and has accuracy issues over and over. The other teams seem to know our plays from the formations we run. They are in the backfield far too many times. THIS IS A PROBLEM. We are too easily scouted and everyone knows what is coming 80 percent of the time it appears. Only trick plays seem to have any chance of working.

Our Defensive Schemes are very poor. Everyone we have played thus far except for Tulsa during most of the game, have gashed us for big plays and after big plays. This is a sign that we are not using the right schemes and are getting out coached. All spring and summer we heard about the amazing speed of this Defense, the best ever some said. Our D line cannot get off blocks. We are out of position too many times at the LB's. Our D backs get tricked too many times. This is coaching.

Biggest thing from the full presser today was the fact that he said Bowman played well aside from a 3 or 4 plays. He didn't really play well at all. If we didn't have very good WRs he would look even worse. Should be easy when you have at least one wr wide open just about every play. I will say the play calling was not good. Gundy said we went for it on our own 30 then followed with you have to to give yourself a chance. The very next drive 4th and less than 5 on our own 48 we don't go for it? Even the philosophy isn't staying true. I don't get it. Hopefully this week is considerably better though I doubt it. Maybe after the bye

mmmm.... that's bad rumor, gossip and innuendo ... not football. It' is simply your opinion.

and a poor opinion at that.

No rumor or gossip involved in the least. These are observations of many sportswriters and fans.

Let me put this into a framework maybe you can understand Mr. Rodeo. If a guy claims to be a bull riding champion prior to the season because last season he competed for the championship but did not win, and this season he has trouble last more than 3 second on any bull he rides other than 2 weaker bulls that most lady riders can handle, would you say that was gossip?

you bringing it up in that context with that crappy analogy would be gossip, the event itself would be considered circumstantial and anecdotal.

Still wanna argue with me Rawhide?

We have 20 plays on offense that every coach in the league knows, and we cannot run them properly.

On defense, we do have injuries, but we failed to recruit any depth at LB and our schemes stink. We over pursue, our angles are bad, and we blitz a running QB who just runs right around us all day because we leave him open running lanes and do not contain? Worse of all, we keep doing it all day and wear out our defense while not having the ball for the 4th week in a row. We are being outgained 500 to 200 every game buckaroo.

All of these problems fall upon the coaches.

I don't see anybody in the thread named Rawhide, and you didn't respond to a post, so who you arguing with now?

Personally, I agree with everything that you just wrote - my point was it is not because the coaches are not playing the guys that give us the best chance to win.

At this point we either play for bowl eligibility or we put in the young kids and let them develop some experience and hope we don't break our bowl streak. Neither is an easy choice.
