STILLWATER – I am not one of those guys that looks at numbers, looks at the analytics and feels you can read the numbers and that will tell you all you need to know. Why is Oklahoma State 3-2 and 0-2 in the Big 12. Why a season with veteran and talented players back from a 10-4 team in 2023 that had all of us, players, coaches, and fans thinking potential Big 12 Championship and CFP berth? I’ve got news for you.

In three of our five games both units O line and D line were getting pushed back at the line of scrimmage! the D line getting pushed back off the line towards the backers and the O line was being pushed back towards the backfield! South Dakota State and Tulsa were the only games where we controlled both sides of the line of scrimmage!!! The issue with the O line is guard play and you will probably see personnel changes there with a couple of younger Olineman, who may be better than the current starters getting the nod this week! You have already seen one move on the D line with Iman Oates starting at the 3 technique or the off tackle position because he has been the one lineman holding his ground! They also need to settle on who gets the majority of snails at nose tackle, either Kirkland or Clay!!!

How about neither?

As always, Go Pokes!!!
Hopefully, they can figure something out, but this sure sounds like wishful thinking.

I apologize. I should have specified who was tone deaf. I meant Birmingham. He's "not concerned" and thinks they just need to get "a little better"!!!! What world is he living in??? Is that what Dickey is telling them? Have they gone woke and can't tell them the truth? Because the truth is they SUCK!!! There is no push being made with our offensive line, and yes, our DL is getting shoved around. The OL is horrible and I'm pretty sure Birmingham is the worst one.

Ok, I wasn't sure if you were talking about the coaches or specific players but I will tell you that you will see changes at both guard positions as that has been the Achilles heel of the issues plaguing the offensive line!!! You probably have a couple of younger players who quite frankly are probably more talented and better players than the older guys!!! Both of the two younger guys have now been in the system three years so they should be ready to step into the starting roles!!!

To me it's about play calling. And I think our offensive coordinator is a great guy…..but…..I believe we need to do some deep thinking on the play calling. We are way too predictable for the most part. We came out against K-State with some misdirection and it helped keep them honest. That helped Ollie get going. After the first quarter it was back to the same old same old and it's not working. I love the Pokes and the staff, but we have got to mix it up enough to keep the backers and DBs honest. Adding a mobile QB to the mix wouldn't hurt either!

If the younger guys are more talented and better players than old guys, and been with system for couple of years already, why didn't the young guys start last two games in place of old guys? Why wait till we lose the first two games of the conference?

You need to contact the football office! Ask for Mike Gundy, Kasey Dunn or Brian Nardo for answers to those questions!,,

naw... it was a rhetorical question with an obvious answer.

Ans: The younger guys are NOT more talented and better players, if they were, then they would be starting, or playing significant minutes.

I just pass on INFORMATION that comes from VERY GOOD SOURCES, but I also say If the term dumbazz fits when some people say why as though you and I have a say in the decision making, rhetorical or not, then hey!!!

that's not "information" it's gossip.

Gundy plays younger guys all the time, when they are clearly better. Even on the OLine.

You have been walking into doors again I see! SMACK!!! No, he doesn't play younger guys all the time!!! He lets his assistants, the OC and DC and the position coach make the personnel decisions until it becomes obvious that a starter needs to be replaced! Many times that is when he has to intervene after reviewing a lot of film and determining a change has to be made!!! THE GURAD PLAY HAS BEEN THE ACHILLES HEEL ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE WHEN IT COMES TO RUN BLOCKING, SO CHANGES WILL BE MADE AT THOSE TWO SPOTS! Thank God the pass blocking has been good or it would be a nightmare scenario! On the interior defense the most consistent lineman has been Iman Oates! He will be the starter at the 3 technique or off tackle in the four man front with Kirkland and Clay alternating at the nose! Desean Brown will be elevated over Johnson and Walterschied at the BIG END position because he has been more consistent than the other two! The linebacker corps with Nick Martin out will probably consist of Kendall Daniels, Jeff Roberson and probably Gabe Brown! They should get Justin Wright back and ready to go in two weeks against BYU!!! There could also be a personnel change at the safety position opposite Trey Rucker!!!

scratching my head trying to figure out why your post sounds like hot air escaping from a balloon.

What you wrote, looks exactly like what RA has been saying - except the part about the 2 who played guard last year all the sudden not being any good this year.... SMH

Strongly disagree. I think Birmingham was unwilling to be the quoted source of any blame on players or coaches. The scenario of a player essentially saying "I think my boss's boss sucks" or "my teammate sucks" and having it published everywhere is way worse for them than sounding apathetic.

As for performance, Robert singles out Wilson and Cooper as playing poorly (not Birmingham), and from my view its been Wilson or Glass (when he has played) who have been the sore spots most consistently. (Edit note: these comments come from another article by Robert)

I'm a little nervous to have those younger guys on field. Kaweki and Glass have not done well in games, but they are the future of the program. Better to get game time on a poor season when their mistakes wont be make or break moments I guess. Hopefully they can be leaders in the coming years.

Got to agree with you Rodeo Poke. I think Joes source must be the younger players or their disgruntled families! Let's acknowledge that some of our current OLinemen started over the older players in prior years, and one even traveled his true freshman year (yes, this sent me on a deep dive)! If younger guys are better, they play over older guys. These younger guys just aren't. They clearly haven't proved themselves in practice and we've seen them fail to prove themselves as starters on the field of play. Great season to start rotating them in though since they're all we will have next year!

No Honyock it is not younger players it is up the damn food chain!!! Kawicki and Dotson ARE MORE TALENTED AND PHYSICALLY MORE CAPABLE THAN THREE OF THE VETERAN GUARDS ALTHOUGH KAWICKIS NATURAL POSITION IS AT THE CENTER POSITION! ROBERT AGREED WITH ME ON HIS SHOW WHEN HE SAID IT IS TIME TO GO WITH MORE YOUTH AND HE WANTS TO SEE BOTH DAVIS AND AUSTIN IN THE LINEUP!!!

you look like a complete jerk when you start yelling at others just because their opinion does not align with yours.

Frankly, I would prefer to hear from the other voices than to hear one more post from your ignorant arrogant ass.

Respectfully, watch out yelling like that. You're going to give yourself a stroke over something that really isn't that important. I don't agree with you based on what I've seen (I've been at every game this year and most games the past few years, home and away). If you don't want people to know your bias is from a personal connection, don't fan girl over the kid for years despite reason and maybe don't post under your legal name? Oklahoma is a small place.

I could care less about your opinions and apparently you could care less about mine! As they say they are like a**holes every one has one and they all stink!!! As far as who I communicate with I you got know jacksh** but hey again it's still a semi free Country so you can opine out your pie hole all you want!!! As far as your fangirl BS, yes I know several families and I treat them with MORE RESPECT THAN YOU PROBABLY EVER WOULD!!! I am still not sure what this business about legal names or Oklahoma being a small place, but it is potential THREATS like this is why I conceal carry and have the lawful permit!!!

why is Joe still yelling at others?

maybe take the rest of the season off, Joe?

we're worried about you, since you don't seem to be handling the season's developments well.

It's not a threat Joe, it's a statement. When you post on a forum under your legal name and people talk about the forums offline and mention screen names, occasionally someone goes "oh yeah, I know him." Oklahoma only has so many residents. Alumni know other alumni and fans. You don't exist in a void. People know you offline.

No one is threatening you, I'm just letting you know you're not using the internet anonymously at all and these posts are getting embarrassing for you. Please get a therapist.

If anything, your reaction to flaunt a concealed carry gun to someone nicely pointing out you're not posting anonymously and expressing concern for your well being is an unprovoked threat of violence. Intimidation at the least.
