Oklahoma State Needs to Continue to Run Quarterback Even With Bowman

STILLWATER – Here we go again. Even my wife when I got back home from Utah on Saturday afternoon said it. We get a quarterback in there running around and doing good and then he’s hurt.  Oklahoma State has had their fare share of quarterback injuries in recent seasons. Spencer Sanders had his share of injuries in his career. The last season that resembled this fall was 2014, and there were three quarterbacks that season with current coach J.W.

Bowman is tough and a competitor, but he is not a running QB. To try and force that square peg into a round hole would be pointless. But then again, that's been the story of this season. Hope we can pull out the win in Waco, but I'm dubious.

Before the season, could you have ever imagined we would wish for a season as good as 2022?

nonsense.

You said it yourself, Walsh got hurt running, Garman got hurt running, in goes flat footed Rudolph who never left the lineup again.

We don't need a rushing QB, we need a QB that can throw the ball (like Weeden, like Rudolph, like Robinson, etc.)

I suppose that absent a QB that can throw (like we are now), might as well offer up to sacrifice the only experience guy we have to injury.

Give me guys that can extend plays with their legs all day long. Plus a new OC.

hmmm... extending plays was not what I was referencing, the QB needs to be able to scramble and escape when necessary.

The statement was more about designed QB run plays and the QB routinely rushing for 70 or more yards.

Mahomes can extend plays with his legs, so do most great QBs, but they were not expected to be the 2nd leading rusher on the team. (like Sanders, like Rangel just did before he was broken by the defense)

If the play breaks down, then yeah, take off running, get what you can.

The switch from Rangel to Bowman running the same play was pretty shocking. I agree with what you are saying completely.
