Watch: Mike Gundy Previews Arizona State Homecoming Match Up
STILLWATER – Head coach Mike Gundy puts a bow on the loss to Baylor and looks ahead to Arizona State.
Here’s what coach Gundy had to say about the Sun Devils’ improvements this year.
“They have good players, and they're in a very marketable geographical location in the country for (the transfer portal) which they hit that market hard. And they've bee – they've had success in that area, and they've done a good job. The (running) back (Cam Skattebo) is a tough guy. And defensively, you know, the coordinators come in. (Brian Ward) was the bottom guy and Washington State guy. And then he was originally from that area, the Glendale area, and so they got him back there, and he's done a nice job with their defense. They run a very similar style to what most of those teams have been doing in the PAC-12 – whatever conference that's not there anymore that league, that he runs that very similar style of defense, and they're doing a good job. You can see the improvement here too with their team.”
“He’s their energy, right? Guy plays hard, he breaks tackles. He gets up, tells you to bring it on. He likes it,” Gundy said of ASU running back, Cam Skattebo. “They feed off of him. He’s the guy that in my opinion, I’m an outsider, they feed off of his energy. He very well could be the best back we’ve played. He’s a good back. They feed off him. So if you want to slow them down, in my opinion, you better tackle him.”
