STILLWATER – Oklahoma State had a wrestler represented at all 10 weight classes in InterMat's rankings for the first time this season as the team remained third in the NWCA Coaches Poll, it was announced Tuesday.
For the third consecutive week, the Big 12's total of eight ranked teams was tied for the most in the nation with the third-ranked Cowboys joined by No. 8 Missouri, No. 11 Iowa State, No. 13 South Dakota State, No. 14 Northern Iowa, No. 19 West Virginia, No. 21 Oklahoma and No. 22 Arizona State. As of Tuesday, Oklahoma State is slated to face 11 ranked opponents throughout the 2024-25 season, including Sunday's dual against No. 24 Oregon State.
Cael Hughes jumped into the 133-pound rankings at No. 33 following his Michigan State Open championship, giving Oklahoma State a fully ranked lineup for the first time this season. There was little movement for the Cowboys outside of Hughes with No. 2 Wyatt Hendrickson (Heavyweight), No. 3 Dustin Plott (184 pounds), No. 5 Cameron Amine (165), No. 5 Dean Hamiti Jr. (174), No. 6 Troy Spratley and No. 8 Teague Travis (157) all inside of the top 10.
Luke Surber moved up a spot to No. 19 at 197 pounds while 14th-ranked Tagen Jamison (141) and No. 18 Carter Young (149) were also included.
Oklahoma State starts its season this weekend with a road trip to Utah Valley and Oregon State before returning home to face Wyoming on November 22.
