STILLWATER – I’m not big into excuses, never have been. You play a football season the way it lays out. Some seasons you have crazy good luck and then others you have to fight through adversity after adversity.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
The part I don't understand is, you hire Bryan Nardo to run the 3-3-5 and two guys get injured (Oliver isn't even a LB) and then you have to completely switch to the 4-2-5 because you don't have enough LBs? I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert on X's and O's, but isn't that a bit extreme to have to completely abandon a scheme you hired a DC to run because of two injuries?

So when Martin and Oliver went down we went from maybe the 120th worst defense to the worst defense? Not too big of a difference

Exactly, Arkansas was still on pace to rack up 600 yards with those guys there. Same with the CCG, UCF, Houston, BYU, and South Alabama last year. Lots of data points that injuries are not the reason the defense is last in FBS

And if two injuries mean you have to overhaul your whole system, then that's a pretty damning indictment on your roster construction

This is exactly why the injury excuse is just that: an excuse.
