We Got One Wrong, Ryan Osborn is Coming and is Todd Grantham's Former

STILLWATER – It appears we were wrong on the Charlotte defensive coordinator Ryan Osborn is coming on board with new defensive coordinator Todd Grantham. Some how the news got discovered out of order yesterday and all apologies to Football Scoop, which first came out with the hire of Osborn.  Osborn was obviously on the job market after Ohio head coach Tim Albin was hired to take over the vacancy at Charlotte. After the season that school fired head coach Biff Poggi. Osborn had been the defensive coordinator with Poggi for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He was also the outside linebackers coach.

Osborn at Michigan

Osborn, who was a graduate assistant for Todd Grantham at both Mississippi State and Florida, had most recently been a defensive assistant for the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL. He was a defensive analyst for Michigan in 2021.

Osborn has been a defensive coordinator early in his career at St.Norbert’s College outside Green Bay, Wis. He has coached special teams (UT-Martin). From a position standpoint he has coached defensive line and mutliple places coached outside linebackers. There has been no designation, so I could easily see him coaching outside linebackers, a critical position in the 3-4 personnel defense.

Reviews from his time at Michigan say he was instrumental is helping coach All-American defensive end and Detroit Lions top draft pick in 2022 Aiden Hutchinson.

No confirmation from Oklahoma State or Mike Gundy, but our sources believe that Osborn is going to rejoin Grantham and be on his staff at Oklahoma State.

how much money are we paying to the coaches that are not being retained? Didn't they all have some type of guarantee or buy-out?

Probably negligible as I think most are on 1 year contracts. In some cases it may just be paying out the rest of the year.

I don't think that is correct. This is from a Feb 2023 article when Nardo was hired.

The three-year deal for Nardo aligns with head coach Mike Gundy's recent philosophy on multi-year contracts for his assistants.

Offensive coordinator Kasey Dunn is beginning the second year of a three-year contract that pays him $900,000. All other on-field assistants signed two-year contracts in February 2022, and strength and conditioning coach Rob Glass is on a five-year deal.

I didn't say all I said most. I knew and I assume you did too that the coordinators were on multi-year deals. In the big picture it is not substantial and is really only those two.

it says that ALL on-field coaches signed multi-year contracts, this is old but it says their contracts ended Feb 24, so the must have renewed their contracts last year after we were in the Conf Champ Game.
