Pokes Report has learned Grantham will replace the entire defensive coaching staff.
Montinar is now the second new defensive assistant on staff, joining defensive line coach Ryan Osborn, both having coached under Todd Grantham.
Montinar was cornersback coach at Florida in 2021 and coached under new defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham.

Prior to his time at ECU, Montinar spent one season as the corners coach at Temple, where they finished third in the AAC and 28th national pass defense.
During Montinar’s time at Florida, the defense was No. 1 in pass defense in the SEC.
He was corners coach at South Florida in 2020, where the Bulls finished the season ranked fifth in the AAC giving up just 229 passing yards per game and second with 10 interceptions.
He was a defensive quality control assistant at Georgia in 2019, and three seasons as corners coach, and one as special teams coordinator, at Texas State prior to his time in Athens. He was named the 2017 Sun Belt Recruiter of the Year by 247Sports.
He also coached a very talented group of DBs at James Madison from 2014-15, where they broke up 59 passes, hauled in 14 interceptions and forced, and recovered, eight fumbles. That totals 22 turnovers and seven touchdowns for Montinar’s group.
One impressive stop on his coaching journey was winning a national championship as a defensive graduate assistant at Alabama in 2012.
