Oklahoma State Signs Former LSU and Ohio State Corner J.K. Johnson Out of the Portal

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has signed former Ohio State, and most recently LSU, cornerback J.K. Johnson out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. The situation got confusing when the news of Johnson’s commitment to Oklahoma State was first reported by On3 while Johnson was still on a visit at Kansas State. The transfer portal has proven to be about anything but neat and uncomplicated. Pokes Report has learned that OSU football had 40 visitors this week, 40 in one week.

Johnson only played sparingly this past season at LSU, his second at the school since transferring from Ohio State. Johnson played in 10 games and finished with three tackles, two of those unassisted. Johnson missed the entire 2023 season taking a medical redshirt after an injury in fall camp.

He went to Ohio State coming out of St. Louis, MO and DeSmet Jesuit High School where he was part of a State Championship in his breakout junior season. In the State Championship Game with Joplin, Johnson had two key interceptions. In that season he had 42 tackles and seven interceptions overall. It propelled him to national recruiting status as he was a four-star and the No. 1 player/prospect in the talent-rich St. Louis metro. He was a Top 50 player nationally.

At Ohio State, Johnson only made two appearances as a freshman and had a tackle in each of the games he played in. 

His redshirt freshman season he played in 12 games and started five at cornerback for the Buckeyes. He finished with 20 tackles on the season and 16 of those were unassisted. 

A big-time prospect that is still waiting to hit the big-time in the college game.
