STILLWATER – Earlier in the day newly announced Oklahoma State recruiting signee Jotavion Pierce of Montgomery Catholic Prep in Alabama talking about winning back-to-back at his school and then the other championships won by members of the Cowboys class.

“This class is loaded,” Pierce said enthusiastically. The 6-2, 190 pound cornerback said.

The fourth and final championship for the members of this 2024 Oklahoma State class came Saturday night in AT&T Stadium as North Crowley and Oklahoma State cornerback signee Draden Fullbright defeated Austin Westlake 50-21.

The previous championships were won by linebacker Carl’Veon Young and his Carl Albert team as they won the Oklahoma Class 5A State Championship 30-6 over rival Guthrie. Young and that Titans defense held opponents to an average of 3.8 points a game this season. They went 14-0 in winning that title and a perfect campaign.

Pierce and his teammates at Montgomery Catholic Prep won the Class 5A title in Alabama for the second season in a row with a 17-14 win over Moody. They finished 16-0 on the season. By the way that ran the record of the OSU class to 188-55. The junior college recruits had a record of 30-11 and the high school signees combined for 158-44 on the field in 2024.

The NJCAA Junior College National Championship went to Hutchison Community College who downed two-time defending champion Iowa Western 28-23 this week in Canyon, Texas. Chandavian Bradley played edge and sam linebacker in the game and had a pass deflection and a key block on a punt return for touchdown in the third quarter, which you can see above. He also had two tackles on quarterback draws, one of those came to help get the stop on the second to last play of the final drive for Iowa Western.

Pierce had three unassisted tackles in the Panthers win over Westlake, but he also had a key fumble recovery when Westlake running back Grady Bartlett dodged a tackler and gained 10-yards but as defensive tackle Derrick Gleason took him down he dislodged the ball late and Fullbright got the recovery. It was originally ruled runner down, but the officials came back and correctly called it a fumble and clear recovery.

North Crowley went on a 12-play, 95-yard drive that ended with quarterback Chris Jimmerson hitting Questin Gibson on one of three touchdown hookups they had, this one covering 44-yards. That score made it 21-7 North Crowley and they went on to the 50-21 win.

“(I) was crying tears of happiness when the clock hit 0:00,” Fullbright text me on Sunday afternoon. “All the work we put in trusting our coaches game plan. I’m grateful to a part of a legendary team and coaching staff.”

It was the first championship for a Fort Worth-area school in over two decades. Fullbright played a big role all season and he appears to be a really strong addition for Oklahoma State. One thing is for sure, this class brings with it a lot of success.
