Oklahoma State Lands Commitment From Temple Transfer Defensive Tackle Demerick Morris

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State just landed its 14 commitment out of the transfer portal in Temple defensive tackle, Demerick Morris.

Morris marks the seventh addition on the defensive side of the ball for Grantham and Co. The Cowboys offered Morris back on December 13. He chose the Pokes over offers from Arkansas State, Ball State, Buffalo, Louisiana, Northwestern and Southern Miss.

Morris checks in at 6-3, 300 pounds and will have one year of eligibility remaining. He has spent his entire career with the Owls, recording two total tackles as a true freshman in just one game. He played in 11 games in 2021 and 12 in 2022, recording 20 total tackles, 10 of which were solo stops.

He also had three total tackles for loss and a half sack. He played in just two games in 2023, recording seven total tackles, before playing in 11 games in 2024, recording 13 total tackles, four of which were solo stops.

He finished his career with the Owls recorded 42 total tackles as an interior lineman, 17 of which were solo stops, four tackles for loss and one sack. He also had one pass break up and one forced fumble.

He started his career with the Owls wearing No. 99, before being awarded a single-digit number, No. 9, his final year, “a Temple tradition given to those who lead by example on and off the field.”

Maybe he was the very best guy on his previous team. Maybe the recruiting team has a clue. You know, i bet they do.

Lol. Drink that kool-aid. They have a certain amount they can spend and this guy came super cheap to add depth. Hopefully they can add a DT or 2 that can impact the game but those aren't cheap.

Interesting so many OSU fans have found such negative information about the value of some portal recruits based on schools attended and whatever specific data or insider information. These are Temple players in NFL since about 2003. Assume a few could have been good players for us, including the 3 DT's.

OMG 72, you did not just post nekked statistics without context.

Sure your list of NFL guys from Temple looks great, until you actually look at their recent personnel.

Many of those kids were Matt Rhuels, who was there through 2016, then 2017-18 were coached by Geoff Collins who left to become HC at Georgia Tech after 2 seasons.

Northern Illinois coach Rod Carey took over for 3 seasons 2019-2021 and was let got being accused of losing the players support and many hitting the Portal.

Stan Drayton from Texas took over for 3 years and was fired at the end of this season with a 9-25 record.

So, apparently after Rhuel's players were gone, for the past few seasons, the Owls have had almost no players make the NFL.

Thanks Orange.

DT's are a hard position to find even warm bodies for. Looks like Grantham found and recruited 2 of them which was a position of great need for the team. Both have played plenty of snaps and have good numbers so they should feel out the positions depth (from 3 to 5 is a big jump), and that is a win.

I hope they both come in and prove to be all conference, but I'm not going to complain because we need DT's, and the scarcity means getting any is a bonus.

If he was effective at creating stalemates and push the flow to one direction or another that is as much as anything in the D Line, Vince Lombardi freebie!!!
