Oklahoma State Getting to Utah for Saturday Hoops Quite a Chore

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s basketball team had an elongated day of travel of planes, planes and planes. If it only could have included trains and automobiles. The Cowboy basketball team was due to leave Stillwater for Salt Lakes City on a charter flight at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon, but an issue with the place, and the wait for a replacement, put the Cowboys way behind.

Instead of arriving late afternoon, at last report the team was scheduled to arrive at close to midnight mountain time. It is that time of year where teams have to be patient and resilient with travel.

Head coach Steve Lutz and his team are coming off a momentum-building 79-66 win at home over Kansas State. The win pushed the Pokes to 9-5 on the season and 1-2 in Big 12 play. Utah is still winless in Big 12 play and a home loss and a most recent loss at Iowa State 82-59. The Utes are 8-6 and 0-3 in the Big 12.

The Cowboys arrival at midnight shouldn’t be too much hinderance. They will get to bed and then adjust the game day schedule to get enough rest, a shoot-around, and then tip time is 5 p.m. mountain (6 p.m. central).

Oklahoma State will only have to worry about ground transportation before Tuesday’s game at BYU. Provo is only about 45 minutes from Salt Lake City. The game on Tuesday tips off at 7 p.m. mountain (8 p.m. central).

Both games are televised on ESPN + and the Cowboys Radio Network.
