OSU Max Begins Introducing Cowboys Fans to New Coordinators Starting with Todd Grantham
STILLWATER – It was announced on Monday that Oklahoma State head football coach is going to meet with the media on Thursday inside the team room in the West End Zone at 11 a.m. Gundy will answer questions for 30 minutes and introduce his new coordinators, Todd Grantham on defense and Doug Meacham on offense. Grantham and Meacham will each answer questions for 15 minutes each. As Pokes Report first reported last week. Oklahoma State Orange Power Studios and it turns out OSU Max will be doing some advance introductions and some more extensive intros in the coming weeks.
They started with 2:44 video with the basics delivered by Grantham. He introduced himself and got in immediately and what he looks for in players on his defense.
“Obviously, number one you have to have the athletic ability,” Grantham started. “After that it’s competitive spirit, you have to compete in everything you do. The next thing is respect because as a young player you have to respect and fall in line with the things of the team. You have to respect coaches and take coaching because it will enhance your ability.”
He still had his main quality to reveal and you will have to watch it on OSU Max. General manager Jason Carroll would love to have you as a new subscriber and I would love to get credit for it. Tell Jason, Robert Allen at Pokes Report sent you.
The veteran coach that played at Virginia Tech and started his coaching career as a graduate assistant there, has gone on to coach at various schools including being the defensive coordinator and assistant head coach for Nick Saban at Michigan State. He coached again later for Saban as an analyst at Alabama.
Grantham also worked under famed NFL defensive guru Dom Capers and drew influence from him. He came to Oklahoma State after serving as a defensive line coach at New Orleans in the NFL. He has also been a defensive coordinator with the Cleveland Browns and coached at Houston, Indianapolis. and Dallas. In college, he has been a defensive coordinator at stops including Georgia, Mississippi State, Louisville, and Florida. Besides Saban, he coached at Mississippi State and Florida with Dan Mullen.
Grantham has been married 27-years to his wife, Paige. They have a son, Corbin, who has graduated from Radford University and will play his final baseball season there this spring. His daughter, Olivia, played volleyball at Troy and is about to graduate from there.
“I love to fish,” Grantham added talking about his favorite hobby. “If I can find some water to fish, salt water, fresh water, just allow me the water to fish then that is something that I have a passion for.”
I think you can probably expect an introduction soon from Doug Meacham. My understanding is they will also have video introductions on the other coaches as well as the new players out of the transfer portal.
