Last week Gundy, athletics director Chad Weiberg and the new coordinators in Doug Meacham (offense) and Todd Grantham (defense) met with the media in a press conference. Andrew Mitchell is a former Oklahoma State player that came to play on Mike Gundy’s team after being recruited from Snow Community College. Mitchell was an important starter on the offensive line for the Cowboys that went on to play briefly in the NFL. Mitchell went intocoaching and eventually rose to the head coaching job at his junior college alma mater Snow Community College near Salt Lake City, Utah. He came to Oklahoma State from New Mexico State where he was the offensive line coach.
Ryan Osborn may have been the first hire outside defensive coordinator Todd Grantham. Grantham was on campus in the West End Zone on Dec. 9 and word of Osborn’s hiring came shortly after. Osborn had coached for Grantham as a graduate assistant at both Mississippi State and Florida. He went on to coach at Michigan on the defensive line as an assistant. He helped out on defense with the Baltimore Ravens. He came to Oklahoma State from the Univesity of Charlotte where he was the defensive coordinator.
