Kutz Pitches Well Early, but Oklahoma State Falls to No. 9 Florida State in Mexico Rematch
PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – The No. 9 Florida State softball team avenged an earlier defeat at the hands of No. 4 Oklahoma State by claiming an 8-0 victory over the Cowgirls in five innings Saturday at Nancy Almaraz Field. The loss drops the Cowgirls to 2-2 on the season. The Seminoles moved to 4-1 overall.
Cowgirls pitcher Katie Kutz got off to a solid start against FSU.
After a quiet two innings, Florida State’s Kennedy Harp broke the silence in the third with a three-run triple to right.
FSU added two more in the fifth and three more in the sixth to close things out.
Kutz took the loss for the Cowgirls and is now 0-1 on the season. Florida State’s Annabelle Widra improved to 1-0 after holding OSU scoreless on two hits – singles from Amanda Hasler and Karli Godwin.
Up next for Oklahoma State is the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational, where the Cowgirls play UCLA on Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. The game will be televised live on ESPN2 and can be heard on the Varsity Network app.
